Sarah Albisser’s background as a contemporary dancer and choreographer profoundly influences both her life and her art. Her fascination with movement and self-expression has, over the past decade, culminated in a striking series of black-and-white portraits, primarily focusing on female faces and characters. After seventeen years of working in black and white, she is thrilled to unveil her latest artistic evolution: incorporating metallic colours into her repertoire.

This thematic exploration has given Sarah the freedom to experiment with a diverse range of techniques and materials, including ink, acrylics, perspex, and thread. Her works capture form, emotion, and fleeting moments in time, often leaving sections of the canvas intentionally unfinished—an invitation for the viewer to engage, interpret, and complete the piece in their own way.

Sarah’s creative process is deeply introspective, shaped by themes that resonate with her personally. These explorations allow her to process significant emotional experiences and transform them into powerful visual narratives.

In the past three years, she has been delving into a more minimal, surreal style as an extension of her earlier work. She has come to understand that while it is easier to fill a space than to leave it empty, both elements are essential and require careful balance. By stripping away the unnecessary, she presents scenarios with simplicity, offering viewers the space and freedom to craft their own stories.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, in Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, and Los Angeles, and is now part of private collections worldwide.
